Animus · dream journal for iPhone

A dream journal that reads back.

Tell it a dream, out loud or in writing. Animus reads it through Carl Jung's psychology, paints it, and remembers it the next time a figure returns.

Animus painting of a dream: a young man and a wolf sitting side by side on a bench in a night laundromat, under the title The White Linen and the Wolf
“I understand somehow that if I talk it will leave, so I don't.”

How it works

  1. The Animus record screen asking: What did you dream?

    Say it before it fades.

Speak the dream the moment you wake, or type it. Animus keeps your words.

  2. A sectioned Jungian reading of a dream in Animus

    It reads it through Jung.

A reading in a real framework: what the dream is doing, what it asks of you, where it sits in your life. As long as the dream deserves.

  3. A dream in Animus with its painting and mood

    It paints it.

Your dreams become paintings, each matched to its mood.

It remembers

Your dreams, read as one story.

The analyst reads your whole journal. When a person, place or symbol comes back, the reading notices, and reads tonight's dream in its light.

Ask it

Ask a follow-up about any dream: why the house, why the keys.

An Animus reading. Under In your journey: The wolf has moved from a quiet companion near the washing of an older identity to a guide at the boundary of home. What was being cleansed now seems ready to travel with you.
A reading from a demo journal: the wolf comes back, and the reading remembers.

Your dreams stay yours.

Made by Hunter Finley

Built for my own mornings.

I made Animus because dreams dissolve faster than anyone can write them down. Now mine become written readings and paintings, and the app notices what returns: a face that keeps reappearing, a river that is sometimes the sky. The quilt beside this is stitched from my own journal.

React Native and Expo, Supabase, OpenAI and Gemini models.
